Minister of Family Affairs and Social Services Krista Kiuru (SDP) on Friday told Yle that Finland will require passengers from China to show a negative Covid-19 test result taken less than 48 hours from departure.
Finland will also begin testing wastewater on flights.
Passengers and aircraft personnel on flights to and from China will meanwhile be required to mask, according to Kiuru.
Finland's rules are in line with those recommended earlier this week by the EU to mitigate the spread of coronavirus as China eases travel restrictions amid new infections.
"An unvaccinated population combined with the high spread of the virus could result in the worst types of strains," Kiuru told Yle on Thursday.
It is still unclear when Finland's new rules will take effect. Sweden has said its testing requirements will start on Saturday.
