The opposition National Coalition Party (NCP) has topped a voter poll conducted for Helsingin Sanomat's (HS), but their support number dropped a little from the paper's previous poll.

Voter support for the NCP currently stands at 20.8 percent, a lead of 1.5 percent from the Social Democrats and the Finns Party.

There was a slight uptick in support for Prime Minister Sanna Marin's social democrats and a dip for the opposition Finns Party, with pollsters estimating support for both at 19.3 percent.

The biggest changes since HS's last poll occurred in support for the smaller parties.

Annika Saarikko's Centre Party, which has suffered major losses in recent months, saw an increase of 1.1 percent in support, to a total of 10.7 percent.

Support for the Greens dropped by 1.1 percent, bringing total voter support for the party to 8.3 percent, the lowest it has been since 2015.

Meanwhile combined support for Finland's smaller parties, meaning parties that are not represented in the current parliament, increased by half a percentage point to 2.7 percent.

Finland's parliamentary elections take place on Sunday, 2 April, with advance voting starting on Wednesday 22 March.
