Käärijä's Eurovision song contest entry, Cha Cha Cha, has reached 151st place on Spotify's global daily list of 200 songs.
This is the first time a Finnish-language song has made it to Spotify's global top 200, Tapio Hakanen, head of music at radio channel YleX and chair of the UMK competition jury, told Finnish news agency STT on Saturday.
The annual UMK competition determines who will represent Finland at Eurovision.
The Eurovision Song Contest culminates on Saturday night in Liverpool. Sweden's Loreen and Käärijä are fan favourites ahead of the grand final, which airs at 10pm on Yle TV1 as well as on streaming platform Areena. This year's winner is expected to be announced around 2am, once the results from all of the participating countries are in.
Viewers can take part in voting for their favourite performers with the ESC app, by SMS or telephone.
People in Finland will be able to vote in the final. However, voters are not allowed to choose artists from their own country. More information about voting can be found (in Finnish) here.
Finland last won the contest in 2006 with monstrously disguised heavy metal band Lordi's Hard Rock Hallelujah.
Käärijä was born 29 years ago in Helsinki, released his debut album Fantastista in 2020 and is known for his wild, campy live shows. He released his first single, Urheilujätkä, in 2016 and has since continued to combine genres like rap, metal and electronic elements in his music.
