Finland has seen warm, sunny weather over the past few days and Yle meteorologist Nina Karusto says that some southern parts of the country will see temperatures rise above 30 degrees Celsius on Friday.
The year's heat record was broken on Thursday, when the temperature in Nuuksio, Espoo hit 28.8 degrees.
The 28-degree mark was also breached in other places on Thursday, including Turku in the southwest, Kouvola in the southeast, and Hyvinkää in the south.
But Friday will be even warmer than that, according to Karusto.
Temperatures will be significantly lower in much of Finnish Lapland on Friday, but the region is also expected to get warmer over the weekend.
Conditions across Finland are dry, which has prompted the FMI to issue forest fire warnings throughout the country. There are also heatwave warnings in effect across the south coast. It warns that people with chronic illnesses may experience more symptoms than usual, for instance.
The FMI has also issued an advisory for strong ultraviolet radiation (with a UV index of 6) on Sunday and Monday in many of those same areas.
A high UV index can more easily cause dangerous sunburns, and people who head out in the sun are advised to cover up with protective clothing or use sunblock with at least SPF 30.
