The National Coalition Party announced its ministerial selections on Sunday afternoon. In addition to taking the premiership as the election-winner, the party said its MP Elina Valtonen would be Finland's new Foreign Minister. Antti Häkkänen, who served as Justice Minister in PM Juha Sipilä's cabinet, will now serve as the Minister of Defence.
Arto Satonen and Matias Marttinen will take turns sharing the Minister of Employment portfolio, while the responsibilities of the Minister of Culture and Science will be split by Sari Multala and Mari-Leena Talvitie.
The NCP will also occupy the Minister of Local Government and Regional Affairs, Minister of Social Security and Minister of Climate and Environment.
Purra to become Finance Minister
Finns Party leader Riikka Purra is set to become the Minister of Finance.
Other Finns Party ministerial positions include the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, Minister of Social Affairs and Health, Minister of Economic Affairs, Minister of Justice, Minister of the Interior and Minister of Transport and Communications.
During the government negotiations, agreements were made regarding the ministerial portfolios allocated to each party. The National Coalition Party has eight ministerial positions, the Finns Party has seven.
On Saturday, the Christian Democrats confirmed their willingness to join the government, with party leader Sari Essayah becoming the new Minister of Agriculture and Forestry.
The Swedish People's Party (SPP) is expected to publicise its ministerial selections on Monday. Its positions will include the Minister of Education, Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering and the Minister for Sports, Culture, and Youth.
