Scammers have sent messages using the name of Finland's online identifying Suomi.fi service as well as the OP Financial Group in recent weeks, according to Finland's Transport and Communications agency Traficom.
These scam messages are used to phish for online banking identifiers. The emails ask to read the message immediately and log in to the service behind the link.
The link leads to a fake login screen where the bank details entered are used by criminals.
"The easiest way to identify scam messages is to look for a link asking for bank details or credit card information. Do not log in to any text message through the link," Juha Tretjakov, a specialist at Traficom's Cyber Security Centre, emphasised.
Traficom also urged people to log in to services via the official website or apps.
In the event of getting scammed, the agency said to contact the bank immediately. In the best scenario, the transfer of money to scammers can still be prevented. Traficom also said that it is still worth reporting the crime to the police.
