The Social Democrats will not support the government's statement on racism and discrimination when parliament votes later this week, the party's new leader Antti Lindtman told Yle on Tuesday morning.

Lindtman said that the government has not been able to take a clear position on whether it has a zero tolerance policy on racism and discrimination.

There will be a confidence vote in parliament on Friday, focusing on the government's anti-racism statement which was published last week.

The Left Alliance and Green groups in parliament also plan to call confidence votes in the Minister of Finance Riikka Purra (Finns) and the Minister for Economic Affairs Wille Rydman (Finns) over their past racist statements.

Lindtman said that the SDP group would decide how to vote on those questions later on Tuesday.
