The pro-Russian hacker group NoName said on its Telegram channel it was responsible for denial-of-service (DoS) attacks on several Finnish websites on Wednesday. That followed a similar series of cyber-attacks last week.
The Tax Administration, the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom), National Cyber Security Centre and ExpressBus were on the list of sites allegedly targeted by the attack. The Traficom and Cyber Security Centre sites appeared to be down on Wednesday afternoon.
The Tax Administration said it was taking measures to fully restore its electronic services, adding that they could be accessed from within Finland. Customer information is not at risk, according to the taxation authority.
“We have restricted access from outside Finland. At the moment, the services mainly operate within Finland, but currently the TaxAdministrations's website, for example, cannot be accessed from abroad,” said Saku Airosmaa, Senior Director of the tax body’s Product Management Unit.
In its post, the hacker group referred Finland’s additional support to Ukraine and countries affected by Russia's invasion.
The same group claimed to have carried out a DoS attack on the websites of the Tax Administration and others last week.
