Finland's population grew by 39,105 people between January and November, Statistics Finland reported on Tuesday. This country's total population surpassed 5.6 million in October.

For the past several years, immigration has been the main contributor to population growth in Finland. This year has so far seen 54,151 more immigrants than emigrants.

At the same time, Finland saw 15,020 fewer births than deaths. The birth rate ticked up during the pandemic, but that reversal does not appear to have lasted.
