Last June, the Finnish Defence Forces (FDF) contracted the purchase of 91 of Patria's 6x6 armoured vehicles. That deal included an option for an additional 70, of which the FDF Logistic Command is now ordering 40.

Patria's 6x6 armoured vehicles are manufactured in Hämeenlinna.

"The future looks good," Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria's Finland Division told Yle.

According to Järvinen, Patria has good possibilities to further increase production.

Approximately 400 people are currently working at the firm's Hämeenlinna plant, up from around 330 last summer. According to Järvinen, employees will continue to be recruited as needed.

The latest purchase by the Finnish Defence Forces is part of the multinational CAVS (Common Armoured Vehicle System) programme which in addition to Finland includes Latvia, Sweden and Germany. During 2023, Patria started deliveries to Sweden, and deliveries to Latvia have been underway since 2021.

The first dozen Patria 6x6 armoured vehicles of Finland's order have already been handed over to the Pori brigade where vehicle operation training for conscripts will start in the early part of this year.
