The Defence Ministry has been relatively tight-lipped regarding the contents of Finnish aid packages for the war-torn country.

Ukrainian forces have been testing some of the latest Finnish defence industry technology, reports STT.

On Saturday, Defence Forces armament chief Mikko Heiskanen told the Finnish news agency that along with older stock, Finland has shipped some of its latest military innovations to Ukraine.

Some of this equipment is so new it's still in the development phase, according to Heiskanen, who said materiel feedback so far has been positive.

This admission is a break from government communication on the topic, as Finland has released relatively little detail on the contents of the military aid provided to Ukraine.

Finland is among the world's top military aid donors to Ukraine, with financial support for the country steadily picking up since the war started. Last year's total was valued at 1.4 billion euros, a septupling over 2022.
