Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and President Alexander Stubb on Sunday congratulated Indian premier Narendra Modi on his reelection.
He will be sworn in as India's PM for a third consecutive term on Sunday.
Posting on social platform X, Orpo said he was "looking forward to continue expanding our relations."
The Finnish President's office meanwhile said Stubb had sent a congratulatory letter to Modi.
Earlier this week Yle asked Stubb, Orpo and Foreign Affairs Minister Elina Valtonen why they had not congratulated Modi, several days after his party had emerged as the largest in elections to the lower house of the Indian parliament.
His BJP party fell short of an overall majority, however, and is now forming a coalition to continue in government.
India's seven-week election, which concluded last Saturday, is the largest electoral exercise in the world, involving close to 970 million eligible voters. Around 642 million voters cast their votes across 543 constituencies.
Modi was heavily criticised for his election campaign which was marked by hate speech against India's Muslim population, triggering anger and fear among the minority group.
