Finnish President Alexander Stubb is attending a Nato summit in Washington, DC on Tuesday hosted by US President Joe Biden to commemorate 75 years of the alliance.
Stubb announced on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that a plane delay impacted his arrival on Tuesday, but confirmed that he would be in Washington on time for the summit's official start.
On Tuesday, Stubb posted a photo on Facebook with Swedish PM Ulf Kristersson on a plane.
"Sweden can be trusted. After all the travel hassle, I'm getting a ride to Washington from Ulf," Stubb said in his post.
In addition to Stubb, the Finnish delegation to the summit in the US capital includes Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen (NCP) and Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen (NCP).
Additionally, Speaker of Parliament Jussi Halla-aho (Finns) is participating as a member of the Nato Parliamentary Assembly.
The main topics of the summit include strengthening Nato deterrence and defence, supporting and strengthening relations with Ukraine, and cooperation with Nato partners.
Finland is one of the 23 Nato member states meeting the alliance's target of two percent of GDP on defence expenditures.
