Saturday has been crisp and autumn-like, and further cooling is expected, according to forecasters, who say Sunday will be the coldest day of the week.
It's a temperature turnaround as the mercury on Friday climbed to 23 degrees Celsius in many places. Saturday has been cooler, with temperatures barely hitting 15 degrees in the south and 10 degrees in the north of the country.
Finnish Lapland saw light snowfall at the start of the weekend, with Saana Fell receiving a light sprinkling on Friday night.
Yle meteorologist Anne Borgström said frosty overnight temperatures were a possibility in much of the country on Saturday night — including in southern Finland.
Temperatures across Finland will be several degrees cooler on Sunday.
"We'd be lucky to reach 15 degrees Celsius in the south," Borgström said.
The cooler weather will, however, only be temporary, according to Borgström, who said warmer air would be moving in from the northwest by Sunday night.
The warm air will also bring rain, which will move towards Lapland on Monday. Up north, the precipitation could appear as snow or sleet.
Temperatures will rise again at the beginning of next week, but not by much.
"It's a warmer breath of air, but it's not summer-like," she said of what to expect next week.
