British artist Sting will perform in Finland at Pori Jazz next summer, festival organisers confirmed on Monday.

The 17-time Grammy Award winner will take to the stage on 19 July 2025 as part of his STING 3.0 world tour.

Guitarist Dominic Miller and drummer Chris Maas will join the 80s icon on stage to perform a selection of hits from his extensive discography, as well as tracks that are rarely played live.

This will mark Sting's second appearance at the annual festival held on Finland's west coast, following a performance in the summer of 2006 to a sold-out crowd.

He first rose to fame as the singer and bass player in the band The Police during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Festival burdened by financial woes

The Pori Jazz Festival has been plagued by years of financial losses and dwindling audiences.

This summer, 32,000 people attended the main concerts of Pori Jazz 2024 at Kirjurinluoto, a decline from 61,500 attendees the previous year.

Recently, the organisation entered restructuring talks to address its challenging financial situation. The festival is seeking partners to help stabilise its finances and is looking to transition the association into a limited company.

This was initially reported as the festival being up for sale, but the organisers later clarified this was not the case.

"Of course, we fell short of our target. We would have liked to see more attendees at the main concerts,” Pori Jazz CEO Sampsa Jolma told Yle after the festival concluded in July.

Even with last year's high-profile names such as Jason Derulo and Pet Shop Boys, the festival reportedly incurred a loss of 370,000 euros.
