The Chinese discount e-commerce outfit Temu is the most popular online-shopping choice for people over the age of 50, according to a survey carried out for courier firm PostNord.
The research compared the purchases of some 1,000 people aged between 18 and 79 in September and October. The survey was conducted in Sweden, Norway and Denmark, in addition to Finland.
The previous survey was conducted in the spring.
The new poll suggests that the gamified shopping operation Temu has grown in popularity among all age groups. It is most popular among those aged 65-79.
"Based on this research we can say that Tem's popularity continues to grow among all age groups, and among the over-50s it is Finland's most popular online store by some margin," said Linda Nyberg of PostNord.
Temu fans in the countryside
The survey suggests that Temu is Finland's most popular online store among people living in the countryside. That phenomenon was also seen elsewhere in the Nordics.
Some 34 percent of people in Finland living in the countryside had bought products from Temu in the previous three months. Among people living in urban areas, the proportion ranged between 23 and 29 percent.
Most Finns have purchased goods online from retailers based abroad in the last year, according to the survey.
The most popular retailers, in order of popularity, are Zalando, Temu and Amazon.
