The Finnish Film Foundation reports that domestic films have already attracted two million big screen viewers this year.
The two-million-viewer-mark was surpassed on Wednesday, the foundation said, noting that the last time this milestone was reached was in 2017.
"This is a strong indication that domestic films resonate with Finnish audiences," Lasse Saarinen of the foundation said in a press release.
So far this year, cinema visits have totalled 6,070,000, with domestic films accounting for 33 percent of the audience share.
The most-watched film of the year has been Stormskerry Maja (Myrskyluodon Maija), directed by Tiina Lyymi, attracting 469,000 viewers by the end of November. The movie is a historical drama based on a book series set in the Åland archipelago in the 19th century.
