There were significantly fewer job vacancies during Q4 of last year compared to the same period in 2023, according to a report published on Wednesday by Statistics Finland.
In total, there were 33,000 job vacancies on 1 December 2024. This is a drop of about 22 percent on the situation in December 2023, when 42,000 available positions were posted.
The number of job vacancies was down across a variety of different sectors, including public administration, education as well as healthcare and social services.
In addition, every region in the country saw a decrease in the number of job vacancies — with the Helsinki region and Northern Finland seeing the sharpest drops.
With Finland's unemployment rate rising, and the number of job vacancies falling, jobseekers face an increasingly tough environment.
