Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo (NCP) on Saturday said it is now clearer than ever that it is time for Europe to take leadership of the continent's security.
His comments came in response to a furious exchange in the White House between US President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, on Friday.
Finnish President Alexander Stubb characterised the shouting match in the Oval Office as a win for Vladimir Putin.
According to Orpo, the West must provide Ukraine with more support on both the military and economic front.
European leaders will convene in London on Sunday for a meeting hosted by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss strengthening support for Ukraine. This gathering will be followed by another special Ukraine summit on Thursday, 6 March.
The Finnish PM said he expects bold decisions in support of Ukraine.
Orpo commented on the matter to Finnish news agency STT via email.
