A Finnish citizen suspected of having links to the terrorist organisation Isis has been arrested in Turkey, according to Turkish news outlet Anadolu.

The Finnish national was arrested along with 24 Iraqis in Ankara, Turkey, during anti-terror operations, based on intelligence that a group of 29 individuals in the capital were linked to Isis and were active in Syria, according to the outlet.

Anadolu also reported that Turkey planned to deport the suspects after they were interrogated.

Finland's Ministry for Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday it was aware of reports of the arrest but said it had no comment regarding the arrest itself. On Tuesday evening Finnish news agency STT reported that the ministry had confirmed the news regarding the Finnish citizen's arrest.

The ministry also declined on Wednesday morning to comment on whether an investigation into the incident had been opened.

This arrest was first reported in Finland by newspaper Iltalehti.
