Finnish President Alexander Stubb will attend Pope Francis' funeral at the Vatican this week, according to the president's office.

The funeral mass will be held on Saturday morning, 26 April, in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican.

Pope Francis died of a stroke on Easter Monday at the age of 88. In a post on X that day, Stubb said that Pope Francis would be remembered for his work with the poor and for his defence of the socially disadvantaged.

A number of world leaders have announced that they will also attend the funeral, including US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron. The UK will be represented by Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Prince William.

Pope Francis' casket was moved to St. Peter's Basilica on Wednesday, to lie in state for three days before the funeral.
