A poll from the Foundation for Municipal development suggests that 55 percent of people in Finland support the EU stimulus package because they think it is necessary to keep the EU united.
At the same time some 56 percent think the stimulus package will shore up market confidence in the EU and prevent an economic collapse in the bloc.
At the same time, 51 percent of respondents said that the package weakens the Finnish economy too much, and 48 percent said it is an unnecessary transfer to southern European countries.
The poll was conducted by Kantar TNS, interviewed just over a thousand people between 9 and 15 April, and has a margin of error of +- three percentage points.
The package has become a hot political issue in Finland since a key parliamentary committee ruled it must be passed by a two-thirds majority in the Finnish parliament.
The package includes 750 billion euros of stimulus spending. Finland's share would be 2.9 billion euros, with the Nordic country paying back 6.6 billion euros by 2058.
