The Finnish Food Authority on Sunday said people should not eat any Kinder egg products recalled by chocolate firm Ferrero this week.

Mika Varjonen of the Finnish Food Authority said chocolate-linked salmonella outbreaks are rare, but advised consumers to "definitely not eat" any eggs on the recall list.

Consumers can check if their eggs have been recalled by comparing the batch code listed on wrappers against a recall list published by the Finnish Food Authority.

While no Kinder-linked salmonella cases have been reported in Finland, most of those catching the food poisoning bug in other countries have been under the age of ten, according to the Finnish institute for health and welfare (THL).

Salmonella symptoms include fever and diarrhea.

Varjonen said information is not available on how many recalled eggs have been sold in Finland.
