Ten homes were completely destroyed in an overnight fire in the municipality of Vihti on Wednesday.

The house was an older building where the fire walls between its ten apartments did not extend as far as the upper roof structure, in effect creating an open wind tunnel through which the fire spread.

Rescue services were able to locate all the residents, some of whom were not at home at the time of the fire. None were injured in the blaze. One apartment was unoccupied.
