In this Finnish road movie, the veteran actor-musician plays a prodigal father who returns to see his son over three decades after abandoning him. Samuli Edelman, another Finnish show business luminary, plays the son.

The film’s director Mika Kaurismäki is the brother of another internationally touted Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki.

Though only in its fourth edition, the Bari festival is one of Italy’s most important film events. The festival has separate categories for international and Italian films. Twelve films competed in both categories.

‘The Road North’ (Tie Pohjoiseen) premiered in Finland 24 August.
