New Year's resolution for a sugar addict

This is the Virgina Monument and this is General Robert E. Lee and Traveller, his much loved horse. I took this picture at Gettysburg National Park in 2004.

My experience through life has convinced me that, while moderation and temperance in all things are commendable and beneficial, abstinence from spirituous liquors is the best safeguard of morals and health.... GENERAL ROBERT E. LEE

MY QUOTE: Abstinence from all processed forms of SUGAR is the best safeguard of my morals and health!

So I am going to see how long I can go without buying cookies, candy, cakes, Coke, Little Debbies, M&Ms, Oreos, any kind of Reese's cups in any form, Herseys in any form, Nestle in any form, no stopping at J's Bakery in P'Cola, no liquid sugar like real lemonade or real soft drinks or grape juice. No Cinnamon Toast Crunch. No searching out bakeries and pastries that I hear or see on TV. No making of homemade desserts that I will eat myself.

I will try to eat more fruit and eat pineapple and bananas instead of all the processed sugars. I will still search out BBQ and use BBQ sauce.

The husband and I went out to eat dinner tonight and while there, the husband asked if I had a new year's resolution this year. I said I didn't and I couldn't remember last year's. He said he had not thought of one for this year either. But I think I'll try this no processed sugar and see how long I can go without it.

Happy New Year!!

Fall color finally and another site with pictures of the gingerbread houses

Finally some fall color in our front yard. This picture was taken December 16th. A lot of you got this color back in September and October!

I found a fellow blogger that took pictures at the Grove Park Inn National Gingerbread Competition. She has a lot of photos of houses that I didn't get photos of and some of the ones she took pictures of, I did not even see. Go check out her site and her album of gingerbread houses.

Little Tiny

Poor little Tiny had to be subjected to too many pictures being taken for the Christmas cards. This one didn't make the cut but she looks cute wrapped up in the red and green rope.

Happy Anniversary to Mama and Daddy 47 Years

My mama and daddy have been married 47 years today! That's a long time to me! They met on a blind date!

This picture is Easter of 1964 and they had been married for five years almost and had my brother and me by this time.

This picture is 1967...probably Easter again.

Christmas Cards

This year I displayed the Christmas cards we received on the back of the front doors. I enjoyed doing it that way because we could easily see them. Most of my blogging friends are on the right-hand side. I really enjoyed sharing cards with my blogging friends. If you didn't get one and asked me for one, I may have the wrong code (Cute Girl)..let me know if you don't ever get yours. And Abe and Happy in Australia, let me know when and if you get yours.

My parents gave me this barrette and earrings made of glass in my favorite purple colors. We found these at the gift shop at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville. Love them!!

Pugs on New York Social Diary Page

Go here and see our Christmas card displayed on David Patrick Columbia's NY Social Diary. I read his column quite a bit and enjoy his reporting and book reviews and travel pictures and party pictures and his love for pets. He has rescued several pets and often reports on events that support animals in need. Every year he posts some of the Christmas cards he receives and I sent one to him this year letting him know I enjoy his column and pictures and his love for pets. I never expected him to put it on his column because there are so many "important society people" that send him pictures...but I'm delighted that my pugs are first up on his page!!

Pictures from Christmas Day

We had a good Christmas Day yesterday. Aunt Sue's husband was sick and was not able to come over but he got plate of food and some Chocolate Mint cake and presents sent home to him. All the dogs were there and their grandmama and grandpapa gave them all their own gift bag with a stuff animal in it. Jackson stole Stevie DD's toy and Sugar stole almost everyone's toys and took them to her bed. Then she took a toy out of cousin Belle's pet taxi and carried it off, too! Sugar does not look like a thief but watch out!

Here are some pictures from yesterday.

Merry Christmas 2006

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY BLOGGING FRIENDS!!! I hope y'all get lots of goodies and good stuff to eat!

This was the best we could do getting all four pugs together and I had already ordered our Christmas cards...so maybe next year we'll get them again like this for a card picture. We had to bribe them with a treat to look up at the same time and then they were standing on a table top so we could not get too far from them for fear they would fall or jump.

This is a flower arrangement we sent to my MIL this week. We stopped by to see her tonight and take her a plate of food from my BIL and SIL's and the gifts we had gotten for her. She has been pretty sick with bronchitis that turned into a bit of pneumonia. But she sounded better tonight.

These are the flowers we sent to my SIL and BIL in Tennessee. I used Hallmark.com to send these. The container is pretty but you can't see it from this picture. It's hard to send flowers long distance and make sure they get there looking good.

This is a flower arrangement we sent my BIL and SIL this week. I enjoy sending them flowers that are Christmasy.

This is my niece's dog and we were watching a video of him (the dog) that they took this week and he ran up to the TV because he recognize his bark or himself...too funny.

This is our nephew and his wife's doggy. He's so sweet and beautiful.

My SIL and BIL and their kids make gingerbread houses while they are all home for Christmas. Sounds like a good time.

Our niece just graduated from Univeristy of Florida a week ago and she put this on the back of her gingerbread house.

We went over there to my BIL and SIL's for dinner and had lasagna and homemade foccia bread and salad...it was so good. They opened gifts from us and I think the girls like their little bags I got for them.

My nephew and niece gave us this beautiful plant and planter. I've never see this plant before. It came with directions....I hope I can do it right.

MY SIL makes homemade goodies and she gave me this cake plate with a bunch of goodies wrapped up!

I had to open it when I got home and it had fudge and choco pretzels and pecan cookies balls things.

Pug Children and some decorations around town

The pug children outside in the sunshine this week!

Baxterman looks like a kid with his nose pressed to the bars!

These a few pictures that I got while out and about the other day. I haven't been doing front door Fridays in a while but maybe I can get back to it soon.

I like the wreath on this door.

I just like the style of this house. I would put garland around the entryway and door.

I guess you all have these kind of decorations up North??

Wrap-up of National Gingerbread House Competition

I decided to finish showing the rest of the gingerbread houses on this post. I really enjoyed seeing them. There were many more that I did not get a picture of while I was there. I'd love to go back again some time and spend more time looking at them.
