    Bookmarker's Notes

John, age 14, becomes a groom in Lord Sherrinford's estate. Caring for horses and doing busy work around the estate was the extent of his duties. Young Sherlock loves to ride horses so John must watch over the twelve year old while out on rides. What follows is a story of Sherlock's love for John, John's hesitancy because of law and religion, a tragedy that rattles the Sherrinford estate, and a grueling journey for both on the brink of death.

Such a great story. John sleeps in a little apartment by himself in the barn. Once John and Sherlock start regularly riding, Sherlock sneaks into John's bed to sleep. Everyone knows they have become close. Once fall begins Sherlock has to go back to london so John learns to read and write so he can write to Sherlock. They write frequently. Then Sherlock is made to go to Eton but he doesn't want to and he's afraid. Sherlock runs away from school and goes to see John. Turns out the older kids at Eton sodomize the younger ones. Sherlock's dad lets him stay homeschooled but sends him away to Germany. Everyone tells John that the Earl thought John and Sherlock were sleeping together and that's why he was sent away to live in Germany. John sleeps with Callie, another worker on the estate and realizes he doesn't really like having sex. When Sherlock comes back, John and Sherlock are still as close as ever. Then Sherlock breaks into John's room, the night after Sherlock's cousin catches him almost kissing John, and says they need to run away. It's that night that they find out the estate is being attacked. The workers send John and Sherlock away to safety. John goes back to check the estate and sees the Earl and the little boy that looks like Sherlock who was pretending to be Sherlock sleeping in his bed, both hanged. Then John also hears Anderson, who had been fired, tell Moriarty that the Earl and Sherlock are dead and that Mycroft is also dead in France. John and Sherlock are on the run and they get arrested. They lie and give fake ages so that they won't get hanged and instead go to reform school. At the school, St Bart's, John is sent to learn at the hospital and Sherlock is sent to the stockroom. The boys at the school are constantly having sex and John learns to associate sodomy with pain and power over. Sherlock gets frustrated that John doesn't understand that sodomy can happen in the context of a loving relationship. John slowly learns the difference but is still wrought with hesitancy because of religion and law. John hears that Sherlock is in a sexual relationship with another boy at the school and he gets so angry that he sleeps with Teddy, a boy who loves having anal. It then turns out Sherlock's never had sex with anyone. Once Sherlock is overcome with pneumonia and he's on the bring of death, John admits his love to Sherlock and Sherlock admits that he wishes he could die knowing he at least had sex with John just once. Sherlock lives and they develop a relationship. The new headmaster though is extremely strict and bible thumping. Sherlock gets caught giving John a blow job and Sherlock jumps out a window to run away. John thinks Sherlock is dead but actually, Sherlock went to join Irene who is helping the opposition to bring Moriarty to justice. Sherlock comes back to get John and they run away together. John becomes a clerk in parliament and Sherlock is also undercover at the same place. Sherlock and John have a little apartment together. One night when they're stealing the documents that will get Moriarty incriminated, Anderson finds them. They meet with him and Sherlock finds out that Mycroft is alive and has been helping to take down Moriarty. Mycroft and Sherlock walk into a session with the queen and present the evidence. The older Moriarty is taken into custody but the younger, Jim Moriarty, who has been leading a criminal web, kidnaps John and takes him to the roof. On the roof, Sherlock is brought and Moriarty and Sherlock go down into the Thames. John goes in after Sherlock and saves him. Then everything is resolved when Mycroft tells them about how everyone from the former estate is doing. Then John and Sherlock move in together in an apartment in the London home and John is studying to go to medical school so that he and Sherlock can go to school together.
