***IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM DeeBeeUs™ WORLD HEADQUARTERS IN TORONTO, CANADA***
YOU WILL NOTICE FEWER POSTS FROM ME IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.
For Thursday Night #Guitar #Shopping this week we are going out of town, to perhaps the BEST place in the entire world to shop for guitars…#New #York #City! If you have never gone guitar shopping in New York City, it’s like ALL of your guitar dreams come true…and then you realize can’t afford those dreams. :\ But it makes for some great guitar pictures! :D
Like Murphy and Nolte, we only have 48 Hours, including 16 hours of driving there and back and 16 hours of sleeping. It will be a whirlwind tour.
First stop will be to visit my new friends @retrofret in Brooklyn, but we will try and hit as many other shops as we can in the roughly 2 hours we have left when not driving, eating, sleeping, listening to some live music, or hanging out at #Retrofret! ;)
If you guys can suggest any other great guitar shops PLEASE let me know??
Guitar shopping this week at folway Music in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, about 1 hour west of Toronto.
Here we have a lovely and surpisingly affordable 1964 Fender Jaguar. Obviously not in “mint” condition, but still quite clean with some nice looking, honest play wear. Selling for $2,999 (CAD) which I think is a pretty good deal. Also: it’s probably the lightest jag I have ever held…which is of course the primary criterion by which I judge ALL guitars…even before how they sound! I mean they must sound good too…but if they are not light weight, I never even get to the “sound” test. I just cannot love a heavy guitar. Well except for my 9 lb 1972 Gibson ES-355 TDSV. That one’s sheer beauty overides any weight issues… :D
I am very pleased with how my Thinline Tele worked out.
1966 Jaguar. The planes in photo #2 are actually older than this Jag!
Photo 2 shows the Canadian military “Snowbirds” precision flying team as they flew over the old city of Quebec, Canada, September 6, 2014.
Gibson SG Standard P-90 & Toronto Vignettes.
Fender Telecaster and Tuesday Night Clouds on the outskirts of the city.
A Jetglo Rickenbacker 360-12 goes really well with a stone industrial building.
New Avatar Day!
New avatars used to be reserved for Mondays, but I am a rule-breaker by nature, so I’m making today New Avatar Day! And there’s nothing those stuffed shirts at city hall can do about it*! I LIVE for the danger of it all - and the women. Ah yes - the women.
(The guitar? Sadly…it’s not mine. It’s a Gretsch Billy Bo Jupiter I photographed recently on sale at The Guitar Shop, in Port Credit, Ontario (West of Toronto, Canada). Don’t look for it there though..it’s already been sold)
* Well we are talking about TORONTO city hall, so they may not actually be wearing shirts at all. I heard that smoking crack in a shirt isn’t as much fun.
Sunny days
Oh, sunny, sunny, sunny days
Ain’t nothin’ better in the world, you know
Than lyin’ in the sun with your radio
(And a seafoam Fender…)
