Now that the #PrincetonReverb is back I can show you the stereo setup I have been using lately to get big reverb sounds without losing the crispness of the source signal in the wash. The signal goes from the #guitar…
1) Into the @atlasstands pedal board where I have the #Boss #FBM1 on for a bit of overdrive.
2) From the Boss FBM the signal goes into the #DD3 delay where it is split into two signals.
3) The direct (no delay) signal goes straight to the #Princeton, which is the main #amp, embellished with only the slightest soupçon of reverb (but it’s mostly dry)
4) The delay is set to slightly longer than a slap-back delay with 2 or 3 repeats. The delayed signal then goes on to the #EHX #HolyGrail Nano which is set to “Hall” and turned up to about ¾ of full-on-robot-chubby for TONS of reverb. From the Holy Grail the signal goes out to the #Marshall #Lead20.
Why did I set it up this way? I have always loved the sound of big, lush, reverb, but find that it muddies the overall sound. So I have separated signal into the “dry” (coming out of the Princeton only), and the “wet” (coming out of the Marshall only). The dry stays dry and the wet stays (very) wet. You get the big luxurious reverb sound but it doesn’t muddy up the dry sound. It’s the best of both worlds…plus the stereo separation (and the reverb coming out of a 4x10) makes it sound huge.
