PROPOSITO: La escala de Lenguaje Pre-escolar es una


prueba de administración individual usada para identificar
desordenes o retrasos del desarrollo del Lenguaje en niños
hispano hablantes.
RANGOS DE EDAD: desde el nacimiento hasta los
6 años 11 meses.
SUBESCALAS FUNDAMENTALES:
- Comprensión Auditiva (AC)

- Comunicación Expresiva (EC)

EVALUACIONES ADICIONALES:
Lista de Muestra de Lenguaje.
Prueba de Articulación.
Cuestionario para padres.

RESULTADOS:
- Puntajes Estándar
- Rangos de Percentil
- Edades Equivalentes para las subescalas AC, EC, y
puntaje total del Lenguaje
Intervalos de 3 meses de nacimiento hasta 11 meses
Intervalos de 6 meses desde 1 año hasta los 6 años 11
meses.

- Los puntajes han sido desarrollados en niños de los Estados
Unidos que viven en ambientes totalmente de habla hispana.
- La prueba de Articulación se aplica en niños entre 2 años 6
meses y los 6 años 11 meses.
• MUESTRA DE ESTANDARIZACIÓN: Estudio realizado
durante el 2001, incluyendo niños que vivían en ambientes
de habla hispana, donde tenían conversación fluida en
español y completaron la prueba de forma estándar sin
modificaciones.
- Un total de 1188 niños en 56 ciudades de 15 estados validan
el estudio.
- Edades entre 2 días- 6 años 11 meses
- En cada nivel de edad 50% niños, 50 % niñas.

Aplicación y Calificación del PLS4
Para obtener puntajes válidos con PLS4 usted debe:
• Conocer el instrumento y adherirse a los procesos de
administración, especialmente reglas para preguntar al niño
y repetirle los estímulos.
• Observar los comportamientos del niño.
• Registrar y calificar las respuestas correctamente.
• Interpretar las puntuaciones siguiendo los lincamientos de
interpretación
• Evaluar los resultados del PSL4 comparándolos con otra
información disponible del niño (reporte de los padres o
cuidadores, observaciones en múltiples ambientes, otras
pruebas realizadas).
COMPONENTES Y MATERIALES:
• Manual del Examinador
• Manual de Imágenes
• Formulario de Registro
• Manipulables:

- Pelota (mediana).
- Cubos (5 tamaño estándar, varios colores).
- Bolas (2 bolas plásticas pequeñas).
- Caja con tapa (lo suficientemente grande para el osito de
peluche).
- Burbujas
- Carros (dos carros pequeños plásticos o de metal sin partes
pequeñas).
• Manta o toalla (para cubrir el peluche).
• Bocadillo de Juguete (galletas, panecillos).
• Vasos (dos vasos plásticos pequeños).
• Llaves de juguete
• Papel
• Sonajas (Una o dos sonajas infantiles).
• Bolsa de cierre hermético, (pequeña).
• Cucharas (3 cucharas de tamaño estándar).
• Juguete Chillón (juguete plástico que chille cuando se lo
presione.
• Oso de peluche (de 6-12 pulgada).
• Juguetes y libros (apropiados para muchas edades).
• Juguete de cuerda de varios colores
TIEMPO DE ADMINISTRACIÓN:
Varía dependiendo de la edad del niño y su cooperación durante
la prueba.
Niños más pequeños requieren mayor tiempo de juego para
inducir varios comportamientos, y poder tener una muestra
adecuada de sus habilidades de lenguaje.
En general:
- 0 a 11 meses 20-40 minutos
-12 meses a 3 años 11 meses 30-40 minutos
- 4 años a 6 años 11 meses 25-45 minutos

CONSIDERACIONES DE APLICACIÓN:
Tener en cuenta condiciones especiales que pueden afectar con
el desempeño del niño.
• El Ambiente adecuado para la prueba.
• Envolver a los padres o cuidadores en la prueba.
• Manejo de los Materiales.
• Tiempo de descanso

DIRECCIONES DE ADMINISTRACIÓN
REGLAS DE BASE:
Iniciar la prueba por el ítem correspondiente a un año menos al
de edad cronológica del niño a evaluar.
Fijar la base de inicio cuando el niño logra tres ítems positivos
consecutivos.
Si no logra estos 3 ítems positivos consecutivos se regresa los
ítems necesarios atrás en la prueba hasta que el niño logre estos
3 ítems positivos consecutivos.
