The Cremonese or Bresciano mandolin and the Tuscan mandolin are often confused with each other, although they are actually quite distinct from the organological and therefore also from the musical point of view…
The first period of Luigi Embergher’s activity in Rome, after coming from Arpino, as well as the year this activity began and the list of addresses he changed, are often treated in a contradictory way by different sources, even recently, and until today there is no serious and documented filing work to support a reliable reconstruction.
A complete list of mandolin patents filed in Italy up to 1930, taken from official and original documents.
The first and most important patent is the one of Maldura, which is also about the “invention” of the modern Roman Mandolin.
