Much more of a family drama than a horror film (which is totally fine - that’s ultimately a marketing thing). But most of the characters here are very one-note, and the camera movements feel very Person With A Camera, as opposed to Spectral Entity. The ending certainly packs a punch, but overall I don’t think everything comes together as well as it was apparently intended.

I don’t know what it is - maybe it’s me getting older, maybe it’s the fact that I’ve seen this sort of thing done the same way so many times - but very often I find this specific type of horror movie to be painfully boring. The situations would be terrifying in real life, of course, but as entertainment, it’s hard for me to muster any interest.

I kinda loved this, but I’m pretty sure most people won’t.

Has one great sequence that starts as a really incredible, well-executed jump scare - but one that sustains itself for a while - and then evolves into something very chilling (seriously, I had cold waves running down my arms and legs - a rare thing). Unfortunately this takes place maybe a third of the way into the film, and things never quite reach that same level again.
