I'm not sure this movie really adds up but it has so many interesting sequences.

Setting aside that clearly no one involved with this movie has ever been to Doylestown (a surprisingly vibrant town with multiple museums, an impressionist art tradition, and a massive cemet castle) it's a beautiful movie especially on 70 mm.
I have many many gripes. And yet, the brutalist gets away with being about itself without being self-aggrandizing.
