  If you didn't enjoy the messaging of this film, then you're just like Lee; your performative adoration for the Joker is conditional. Counterfeit love ends when you stop doing what people want you to. Props to Todd for taking the musical approach. It's crafted in a way that becomes increasingly frustrating, mirroring Arthur's own frustrations through sound. I’m not sure what ending other viewers would’ve preferred, but those that I can think of would’ve made little sense, defying the Joker and his own “wants” as established by the first film.
