Absolutely fantastic film, great use of multiple already established tropes for detective mysteries, great cinematography, fantastic performances, Kurosawa really did a great job with this film, I know he's commenting on something deeper than just a a great detective thriller but I'm not sure yet. Better than Cure? I think it possibly is but not probable.

I absolutely loved this movie, but there's one thing keeping me from giving it a 5/5, it's critique of Mr. Gondo. He's a self made man who doesn't come from money and worked his way up the ladder to get to where he is, and yet in that final scene I'm really not sure if Kurosawa is empathizing with the kidnapper/3x murderer, it seems as he is as if this man being poorer then self made Mr. Gondo gives him…
