This completely missed the mark on what made the first movie so special, but it still has a decent story. Different colored eyes being the thing that gives people immunity to the virus is really dumb though.

Classic “zombie” film where you can’t not root for the main characters
Some of the shots in this are just so great. I absolutely love how the sequence where Jim escapes from the soldiers was filmed, in particular. The rain, the darkness, everything about it is awesome. The beginning, where Jim is exploring an unusually abandoned London does a perfect job of capturing the loneliness of this new world these characters are stuck in.
2000s horror doesn’t get much better than this.
