Cringe, but also kinda charming. It thrives in its carefree energy and killer soundtrack, but its attempts at emotional depth often come across as forced rather than heartfelt. If the movie dialled back the sentimentality and made the characters a bit less grating, I would have loved it.

Very little gore and not as campy as I thought it would be, but I really loved the carnival setting and Goosebumps-like vibes. It’s also beautifully shot, with colourful, moody lighting that enhances its retro charm.

I love how Tobe Hooper paces his movies—starting slow, letting the tension simmer, and then exploding in chaos by the end. Most of this movie is just four teenagers walking around a carnival, but for some reason, I really enjoyed it and was engaged…

Been a while since I’ve gone to the theatre and saw a movie that actually delivered exactly what I expected. The movie didn’t try to be more than it promised, nor did it fall short. It just hit that sweet spot where the trailer, the premise, and the final product all lined up perfectly. Perkins knew exactly what kind of movie he was making and stuck the landing. Just a very fun little horror comedy.

Not every movie needs to surprise me to be satisfying. Sometimes, it’s enough to get exactly what I came for.

All that said, needed more Elijah Wood.
