maybe a bit overdramatic / heavy-handed in places but i really truly thoroughly enjoyed this movie. how tf did robert pattinson make his voice sound like that. insanely iconic performance. not too much fluff to this movie which i appreciated, bong joon ho kept it pretty tight. kinda hoping for a director’s cut that adds some extra scenes though cause i couldn’t get enough.

second ceylan movie i’ve seen after once upon a time in anatolia. really liked this one too. crazy seeing istanbul so snowy like that. so many shots in this that were just gorgeous to look at.
it’s clear that ceylan’s movies are really methodical, sustained meditations. i know this would’ve been a transcendent experience to watch in an istanbul cinema at midnight in 2002.
ceylan is the goated ambient filmmaker… winter sleep next but i’m also gonna have to rewatch once upon a time in anatolia. need to show galia that
