This movie is basically Cabin in the Woods/Friday the 13th with a Unicorn as the main focus. Plot isn’t bad. Comedy was solid and actors were great. Weakest parts was the whole backstory of the mom that only came into play when the story needed to progress and was hyper specific to the plot and how the movie ends.

Reiteration if many sci-fi horror before it. Lot of the build up and where the story goes, you should be able to guess as there’s only 2 characters in the movie. They did do a good job with story in some parts with how they subverted expectations to try to make it different. The ending is probably the best part from the visuals, both practical and digital.

The world building alone in this film is so intricately thought out that even something small has great attention to detail. The story was a great cyberpunk detective film exploring new world for the audience to view. OVERLORD: The Sacred Kingdom 2024
I know the premise of the anime and books. Going in with that and the intro they give us, almost none of that matters. There’s a quick scene with couple of lines that talks about it, but it is never brought up again. The movie was decent until the first big fight with the main character and the villain. After that it took a nosedive story wise and picked back up towards the end, even though the final battle was super lackluster probably due to time constraints. Overall story is ok and the characters and world building were cool.
