Angel's Egg 1985
Being a young man who was raised in the Catholic Church, the overarching themes of old Christianity, gothic architecture, and the near Gregorian score of this film immediately swept me away into a mindful, dark euphoria. I found myself watching this movie once a day until it had become something more than just some hard-to-find anime flick. It may have been Dark Souls III that brought me here, but I left with a lifelong impression of wonder and reverence for Mamoru Oshii's astounding work.
