Like I said to my friends...

So visually stunning it will make your eyes water.

So beautifully scored it will give you shivers down your spine.

So dramatic it WILL snatch your wig!

Denis has talked a lot about the process of making these films. how he was storyboarding these sequences when he was a teenager. His whole life has led to these creations, and it shows. You have no option but to get sucked into this world, it's beautiful…

    Anora

    ★★★★½

What. a. ride. Anora is filled to the brim with imperfect people. Somewhat of a staple of Sean Baker's films.

While the film is surprisingly hilarious it is also quite surreal at some points. The ending is heartbreaking.

A lot of films try to ask the audience; "What did you learn from this?". Anora asks that same question directly to its central character. How does Annie move on from this? How does she process what happened to her? How does she find self worth?

Although most people won't find themselves in this scenario, they will find themselves asking these same questions.

While I do think Bong Joon Ho makes his best films in Korean, this is my favourite of his American films.

Phenomenal performances all around, especially Pattinson and Ruffalo. I love the direction Ruffalo has been taking his career, he’s great at playing an idiot who postures as a brilliant person.

I like the rehashing of American history. When she (forgot her name) said “WE ARE THE ALIENS” I felt that.

I’ve seen people disappointed by this because it’s not like Parasite, luckily it’s not trying to be. It’s its own thing and I enjoyed it quite a lot.

I think watching this film post Joker entitles me to talk about the films together.

This film is more unsettling than Joker. Mainly because just by the title you know that Joker is based on an IP, already setting a barrier between your reality and the films. I think the lack of true violence is great as well, maybe the film initially flopped because it wasn't violent enough, maybe it's why Joker made 1 billion dollars, but I think it…

I would like to start by mentioning that today I saw Steven Spielberg with my own eyes and it was awesome.

If anyone were to make a semi-autobiographical film about their love for film Steven Spielberg would be my pick. He has brought so much joy to millions of people through his films, and could well be the most important director of all time. If anyone knows how to convey a message to a wide range of people, it’s him.…

    Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

    ★★★★★

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. A ground breaking film that forced other animators to step up their game. The Micheals vs. The Machines, Puss and Boots: The Last Wish, Soul (imo), and the up and coming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie. These all pulled major influence from multiple aspects of Spider-verse. The film single handedly shook up the industry.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse proves Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and all of their collaborators at Sony are just miles ahead of anyone else in the field of animation. I can’t imagine the impact this is going to have going forward.

The most beautiful animated film I’ve ever seen.
