    All About Lily Chou-Chou

    ★★★★½

Eerily similar to Lee Chang Dong's masterful thriller, "Burning", except buried in a teenage wasteland. Spectatorship in your own life — the cold, apathetic distance between the body and soul in a delicate, sensory overload of a coming-of-age experience. "All About Lilly Chou-Chou" is digital filmmaking at its most visually poignant, mythological, and messianic possible. One of the most appropriately compelling soundtracks of all time, one of the finest stretches of vistas ever recorded to film, one of the most…

    Cure

    ★★★★½

Hauntingly unobtrusive. Kiyoshi Kurosawa's sinister naturalism lays the bone-chilling horror of "Cure" bare, a trance you swear could never befall you until you're glued to the light, tuned into the droplets and ringing ambiance, starring into the pond at your own reflection — you've forgotten if time has passed or stopped entirely. Then you dive into it. That's when the drones of the everyday finally cease, but you've become uninhibited wrath. A detective trying to make sense of what's failing…

    I'm so sat.

Since my childhood, M. Night Shyamalan's work has emotionally hypnotized me in ways I still cannot fully comprehend or articulate. I still remember the gut wrenching shock David Dunn's journey in "Unbreakable" instilled in me when I was 8. I still think about "Trap", and I thank it for reconnecting me to Shyamalan, helping me find "Unbreakable" again, and…

    Blue Christmas

"I love you" was muffled in your sweater. Numbed when you left, as if I were a half worn cigarette stubbed against your stonewall. Absence lovingly wrapped under a burning Christmas tree. Dawn stretches into dusk and the only trace of your affection is the smog lingering behind. I can tell, I look into your eyes and see a ghost looking back. You look into mine and see only their sparkle. Finally, a debt you can't collect.

    Uncanny how Wells…

Our movies have been bad since Endgame and we openly admit it so if we bring back our corporate jester to make fun of us, as well as sprinkle in some nostalgia from before we made superheroes cool, not only will you love us for it, but we'll artificially restore your faith in our ability to create movies you actually like without proving ourselves. Funny!
