i hope someone is giving ellian therapy. sooo much therapy. i expected her mental breakdown at some point given that she's trying to solve the problems of her parents and the entire kingdom while being hunted by and running said kingdom, but i did not expect that scene to be as visceral and visual as it was.

gives me hope for future disney work...
the songs were definitely catchy and largely plot-relevant. plot was coherent, and left the door open for a sequel (of course).
moana's little sister is so cute!! and of course i love the indestructible chicken + pig sidekick combo. the introduction of an ensemble cast was rather fun too, they all had distinct personalities.

Made me cry and i never cry at movies...
watched with my mum and grandma. definitely a family movie, hit me in all the feels. very familiar and intimate to the chinese diaspora. everything was handled beautifully, tastefully and with such great cultural sensitivity.
