  Army of the Dead 2021

  Though Army of the Dead is a breath of fresh air in the realm of zombie films (considering it is a heist film at its core); what ironically pulls it down is the incessant cliches and mind-boggling predictability. The potential this film held was immense considering there are two genres to play with, but Snyder fails to deliver what he sets out to do. Though a better screenplay could've made it a legitimate cinematic journey, it still is a gorgeously directed, and beautifully shot Snyder experience. It is an entertaining watch but not something you'd fondly remember after it ends.

  Felt like a cute wrongful-conviction/whodunnit until Bong Joon Ho decided to come mercilessly firing at us with that last act. Bong consistently makes films that are playful and fun until it isn't. Another great example of how impressive of a filmography this guy has.

  Now having watched both Aronofsky's Mother! and Bong's Mother, I have decided to never watch another movie with Mother in the fucking title.
