This is the first Spike Lee film I've watched and it didn't disappoint. I liked how the story was told and the use (or disuse) of the fourth wall.
I love what it has to say about female empowerment and owning who you are.
Now on to the rest of Spike's filmography.
This is a film to be experienced. I'm a sucker for sound design and this film brought the goods.
I was awake the whole time, taking all the sensory information from the film, and I left the theatre as if waking from a dream.
Also, I'm always down to watch Tilda do her thing.
This film is a big neon sign with fireworks and sparklers. It knows what it is and I respect it.
I never understood why people would applaud a film. The director or actors are not there to take their bows and receive the applause. The screen cannot blush with modesty from doing it's job well. But when this film finished and everyone began clapping (including myself), I understood why.
This is the Batman film fans wanted. It's dripping with style and revels in it without becoming campy. The direction from Matt Reeves was phenomenal; a perfect encapsulation of a dark,…
