Last Night in Soho 2021
I can’t get over how misjudged and tone deaf this felt.
Trauma and sexual violence repeatedly harnessed for cheap cartoony frights was so tasteless, and at times genuinely upsetting.
The depiction of ill mental health was also so off the mark and clichéd.
Such topics are by no means off the cards for the horror genre but this film had nothing valuable to say about them, and rather trivialised them for glossy entertainment purposes.
