I don’t know if it was just the three cocktails I had before coming down to the Roxy but I quite enjoyed this! Cage and Dern’s performances as these love struck dummies completely worked on me. I don’t think I realized before this how funny David Lynch was—yet at the same time, you can tell when he’s asking you to be serious for a second. Ironically, though he’s nailed as a master of surrealism, those kinds of non-telegraphed tone switches feel all too true to life.
(I got a little bit sleepy in the middle tho)
