There are a lot of things I don't understand in this world. That much is very evident.
I don't understand how this film though vile is incredibly potent and poignant in its message. I don't understand how its director after having made it, can make comments defending Harvey Weinstein. I don't understand that despite being moved (admittedly to disgust but still moved) by this film, that if it was banned tomorrow everywhere and forever I wouldn't mind that at all.…

Yellow Earth 1984
A wonderful film and a clever one. Many different types of people can leave this film with the conviction that the film passionately argues with their points and that no one truly understands it but them. The film remains elusive.
Not just in an abstract way either. I saw an atrocious VHS copy of this. I dont think there are any good prints of this left. Criterion re release yellow earth you cowards.
