There are so many amazing details in this film to pick up on that show the barbaric nature of slavery and racism in America.
From the seating arrangement at the table at Candyland, to the nonchalant manner of the lynch-mob when they're about to kill a black person, Tarantino shows 1860s America in all its horror.

Great film!! Artistically it doesn't do anything particularly special to my eyes - though the Spanish countryside is beautifully captured.
Politically it's fantastic! The scene where the people debate collectivisation is so good at showing the various trends that existed at the time. You can't help but hate the Stalinists for their betrayal of the revolution after finishing the film.

This film felt like a nothing-burger. The reverse chronology doesn't contribute to the film. It is interesting to compare the person the film ends with and the person we see at the start, but I would have felt the same if it was done in chronological order.
Memento is a film that is far more effective in playing with chronology to provide a powerful impact on the viewer with the various revelations that are peeled back as you watch.
