Girls Will Be Girls 2024
I have never watched Indian Cinema like this before. So precise, so understated, so well acted, so reminiscent of parts of my own Indian childhood, and yet so fresh, so breathtakingly aching. Just incredibly happy we get to see this happen and that film making like this is still possible in today’s India.

The Banshees of Inisherin 2022
Location is always the deuteragonist in Martin McDonagh's films. As in 2009's In Bruges, so in Banshees of Inisherin, the environ is inseparable from the fabric of the story. The Irish west coast is gorgeous to behold. (I made a pilgrimage to Bruges in 2017. A similar pilgrimage now seems to be on the cards for all the islands that were shooting locations for the fictional Inisherin. 🤭)
